In 1980, the Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California including Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel and Santa Barbara officially became a National Park.  These unique islands have the highest concentration of prehistoric sites in North America which can be traced back 9000-13000 years ago.
